Family Bake Night

At Easter dinner this year, the conversation turned to a family legend: Aunt Marie’s Shot Cake. It was one of those recipes everyone remembered fondly, but somehow, the actual instructions had slipped through the cracks. I didn't have the recipe then, but I am so happy to say—now I do!


The timing couldn't have been better. My niece sent over the recipe on Friday night, just as I was getting ready to start my weekend baking. It felt like a little bit of kismet.

This weekend turned into a multi-state baking event, with the cake being whipped up simultaneously at our house and down in Maryland. I decided to start with a half-recipe to test the waters. The results? Just as I remembered. The flavor was spot on, and even the crust turned out absolutely perfect.
