12 Days of Christmas Cookies. Day Eight. Jelly Balls.

This was my Mom's recipe. I do not know its origin. What I do know is that my husband loves these cookies.

Jelly Balls

Makes 4 dozen


1 cup butter

1/4 c sugar

2 egg yolks

2 2/3 cup sifted flour

1/2 tsp sakt

raspberry or apricot jam


Heat oven to 350˚

Cream butter

Add sugar, beat until light & fluffy.

Add egg yolks, beat.

Sift flour and salt, add to butter and beat until smooth.

Shape tablespoons of dough into balls.

Place on parchment lined baking sheet.

Press thumb into each ball.

Drop jam int0 each impression.

Bake 18 to 20 minutes, until light brown.

Cool on wire racks.
